During the Foresters' World Championships in the Scottish town of Lockerby, the Austrian team, consisting of three competitors from the Vorarlberg (Hermann Stocker, Josef Bitschnau, Herwig Erhard) gained the title, with Bitschnau coming second in the overall individual ratings.
The Junior Competition brought in a second World Championship title for the Vorarlberg through Benjamin Greber. Governor Sausgruber and State Councillor Erich Schwärzler gave their hearty congratulations to the victors during a reception in the State Parliament Building. "These results have again shown that within the Vorarlberg forestry sector we not only have high-quality wood, but also extremely skilled foresters", emphasised State Councillor Schwärzler. "Qualified forestry specialists are extremely important to us and we therefore support the training of apprentices in the field. These are investments that really pay off in the long run."
