Preventive medicine: The success story continues

The cooperation plan between the Land Vorarlberg and the World Health Organisation (WHO) with regard to implementation of the CINDI Programme has been extended. State Councillor Hans-Peter Bischof and WHO representative Aushra Shatchkute signed the relevant agreement in the State Parliament Building. The agreement regulates cooperation in the common fight against so-called "sicknesses of civilisation" such as heart attacks, cancer and mental disorders. Bischof says that the Land has profited strongly from the partnership with the WHO in the last few years: "Our cooperation is a real success story. Since 1985, when the CINDI programme was introduced in the Vorarlberg, the average life expectancy of the population of our country has risen by more than four years".
